The Spirit of Giving is about working together as a community to make the quality of our lives better. There are endless ways to give, and many are showcased as part of the 100,000 Acts of Giving. Mission’s call to community members through an act of kindness or good deed.
The Spirit of Giving Awards are for people who embody this spirit through their interactions with others. These individuals have made a significant difference in bettering the quality of life in south Orange County and go above and beyond their duties as community members. This awards program is sponsored by Mission Hospital. The idea of this awards program comes from the values of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange who, for more than 300 years, have administered to the needs of people throughout the communities where they live.
Mission Hospital and the Sisters of St. Joseph recognize the fact that quality of life in our community is defined by many interdependent factors – excellent educational facilities, extended family resources, safe and clean neighborhoods, the availability of beautiful recreation areas, a spiritual network of all faiths and world-class healthcare for all.
The people who receive these awards have enriched the lives of community residents in any of the aforementioned areas and have a long-term commitment to a spirit of giving through vocation, volunteerism, avocation or philanthropy.
Nominations are open to all community members who live or work in Orange County. The selection committee will include representatives from a variety of community organizations and businesses. Winners will be honored at the fifth annual Spirit of Giving awards program on June 23 at Mission Hospital.
